Norvado to Acquire Price County Telephone
According to FCC filings, Chequamegon Communications Cooperative, Inc. dba Norvado has entered into an agreement to acquire Phillips, Wisconsin based Price County Telephone Company (PCTC). Under the agreement, Norvado will acquire 100 percent of the shares of PCTC stock. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
PCTC serves 3,242 access lines, offering voice, broadband and IPTV in its incumbent local exchange territory located in Price and Sawyer County and provides CLEC service to another 243 customers in Price County. PCTC’s service area includes the rural communities of Phillips, Prentice, Soo Lake & Park Falls in northwestern Wisconsin. In September 2018, the company received $300,000 in broadband grants from the Wisconsin Public Service Commission to build fiber to roughly 300 addressable businesses and households in underserved areas around Phillips.
Cable, Wisconsin based Norvado serves 7,814 ILEC voice customers in Bayfield County and provides CLEC service to approximately 1,000 customers in Bayfield, Sawyer, and Ashland County. The cooperative offers voice, broadband, cable television and security services.
